Susan Boyle visits her old high school despite being bullied there

The 48-year-old superstar paid a visit to St. Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn, West Lothian, earlier this week.

St. Kentigern’s Academy is a Roman Catholic public high school in Susan’s hometown in Scotland. She has spoken before about her tough childhood and how bullying made her life “hell.”

Yet at an event to mark the refurbishment of the school, Susan was able to put all that behind her. She popped in to wish the school well, and sat and chatted with the staff and  students. Teachers were delighted to see the former pupil, who has become a global success almost overnight.

For her trip back to school Susan dressed formally, in a black double-breasted jacket not very different from the school jackets worn by the students.

She has spoken of how her experience of being bullied at school is a cause of depression for her. According to the Sun newspaper, she has said, “I used to be made a fool of at school. When people are a wee bit slow others pick at them.”

Happily that is all in the past for Susan now.
