Susan Boyle’s Sony bosses have offered to pay her rent in a luxury home in Malibu worth $9.5 million, but she won’t move there because her cat Pebbles might not last the journey.

Her Sony employers are concerned for Susan because of recent break-ins at her home in West Lothian, Scotland. Before Christmas two men were lurking in her garden and two weeks ago another intruder disturbed the singer.

So Sony have offered to pay for her rent in a grand mansion in California, in an enclave specially reserved for the wealthy.

But she has turned them down because of concerns about her cat.

A senior Sony source told the Daily Star: “Susan said she couldn’t possibly be happy without her cat with her, even though we told her we’d fly the darn thing over here too.”

They explained that Pebbles could be flown into the US without problems. But Susan was worried the cat might not survive the flight.

The source continued: “She told us she feared her pet might not survive the eleven-hour flight and even if it did might not settle by the ocean.

“You have to admire her sticking to her guns. A hell of a lot of people would give their right arms to stay there for free.”

How many of us still live in our childhood homes? Besides - where Susan is living is for people who are on fixed incomes and since Susan is no longer in that income group - its time for her to give it up to someone who needs it more than her.

She may love her cat but is that a reason to risk her own security?Besides that's a nonsense cats can travel Pebbles has done it before. No I think they are just picking the wrong type of place to relocate her.The rich and the famous and big mansion thing and paying rent may appeal to them but would not I think appeal to Susan that's not her idea of comfortable and secure.( besides all that high priced rent will have to be paid back and Susan hasn't seen any money yet.) Trouble is where could she go where she would be safe from the pesky Media tracking her down and exposing her whereabouts to the world yet again? It's becoming a real problem.I think tho anywhere is better than where she is.Isn't it really far too exposed already?

Good for her. The house can be alarmed and doors and windows changed, etc. I do think it's time for Pebbles to have a cat buddy.

Susan needs to stay in Scotland where she feels comfortable. A more secure house, yes, but what in the heck would she want to live in LA for? Really a silly idea.

What Susan needs is to be where her heart is and it appears to be at the home she was raised in, full of loving memories, a gift that money can't buy. Malibu is an extremely hot climate. Sony wouldn't be out any money, they would right it off their taxes as expenses on behalf of Susan Boyle. I find myself feeling sorry for Susan. I would like for her to grab the microphone, sing as she did the first time we heard her, and show the emotional expressions we saw then. She needs to have some fun fulfilling the dream she had and she will still be a lady. Go for it Susan, but not Malibu.

Susan wouldn't even stay in her posh London flat - she prefers home in Scotland where her roots are so I cannot understand where this silly piece of information came from, or why it is reproduced here.

Let Susan know, that I would be happy to cat sit Ms Pebbles Boyle. I don't live too far from Malibu. I can surely understand her feelings about her kitty though. I couldn't begin to tell you all the things I have done or not done because of my cat. Always hugs Susan. Sincerely, Martha Ellen

Is this just another made-up story about Susan? As a cat lover, I understand and applaude her decision. Her cat and her home in Scotland keep her comforted and her feet on the ground .

I think you got it wrong. The cat is in London and plans on staying right there. Susan is in Scotland and plans to stay there. If you need to kniow, check the fan blogs.

Silly tabloid fodder. Besides, why would she want to go all the way to California? For what purpose? Haven't they got a place for her a little closer to home? Also, if there is any truth to it, no wonder she refused. Cats are people too, and she loves her Pebbles. I don't blame her.

busterbrown, yes it sounds stupid to me, because none of it is true. To begin with, as others have pointed out, she doesn't even have the cat anymore, and if she doesn't want to buy another house in Scotland, she certainly wouldn't move to LA. Just another nonsense article.
