Susan Boyle to make film debut in ‘The Christmas Candle’
‘Britain’s Got Talent’ phenom to hit the big screen
Susan Boyle, the breakout star from 2009’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ program, is set to make her movie debut in the upcoming ‘The Christmas Candle.’
The Irish Independent reports that Boyle will be joining Samantha Barks, Hans Matheson and Lesley Manville in the Christmas period film. Production began last week on location in the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man.
Barks most recently appeared in the critically acclaimed ‘Les Miserables’ film. Strangely enough, Boyle performed ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from ‘Les Miserables’ when she auditioned in 2009 for ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’
It has yet to be confirmed what role Boyle will be taking on for the film project.
The movie is a film adaptation of the novella by Max Lucado. It tells the tale of an enchanted Christmas candle in Gladbury, a dull village that must confront the dawning of the 20th century and a new, skeptical minister.
In a statement, Susan Boyle said, "Everyone on set is a delight to work with and it's a fantastic experience to be part of the team.
"I'm really enjoying getting dressed in the period costumes and stepping back in time and although it's very cold filming on location, I'm wearing long johns under my bustle," she added.
