Susan Boyle paid a sensational tribute to her late mother Bridget in Ireland last night with a stunning performance at the 02 Arena in Dublin.
It was an emotional event for the singing sensation whose parents, Patrick and Bridget, both came from County Donegal.
Boyle attributed her success in "Britain's Got Talent" to her mother Bridget, saying she had urged her to enter the reality TV show.
At the time, Boyle's main experience had come from karaoke and church singing with her local Church in Blackburn, West Lothian.
She also joined the annual pilgrimage to the Knock Shrine in County Mayo where her priest Fr. Basil Clark said she sang like an angel.
"When I watched the judges' faces (on Britain's Got Talent) it reminded me of what I was like when I first saw Susan singing in Knock -- absolutely blown away by the quality of the singing and by that fantastic voice," he said.
Before entering "Britain's Got Talent," Boyle had abandoned an audition for "The X Factor" because she felt she was too old and and that people were being chosen for their looks.
However, her mother's death in 2007 inspired her to enter the hit TV show.
Sadly, Bridget Boyle never got to see her daughter's runaway success, especially her trimphant performance in Dublin.
It was a bittersweet moment for the Scottish spinster who dedicated her triumphant Irish show to her mother.
"This one's for you," she whsipered before going on stage.
The songstress continued her amazing journey through Ireland tonight in Belfast, where she again brought the audience to its feet with another stirring rendition of the two songs that have catapulted her to stardom.
After her set, the star did not stay on stage for long and was gone almost as quickly as she arrived.
