Nothing compares to divorce yet again for Sinead O’Connor – the singer has split from her third husband Steve Cooney.

The mother of four admitted that the couple had ‘unfortunately’ been spending time apart of late and made the final decision to end their marriage three weeks ago.

Family members are concerned about her well being and one said: “The negative tone of the media coverage of her marriage sparked her illness and she became suicidal. The 45-year-old star has confirmed to the Irish Independent that her eight month marriage to musician Cooney is officially over.

The pair wed on tour in Europe last summer but O’Connor has confirmed their decision to go their separate ways.

“Steve is lovely so it’s not his fault but mine,” O’Connor told the paper.

"It was an extremely happy marriage. I’m heartbroken about it breaking up.”

O’Connor has previously been married to writer and producer John Reynolds and journalist Nick Sommerlad.
