Rosie O'Donnell will return to daytime television with new show
Rosie O'Donnell has confirmed that she wants to return to daytime television with a new talk show in the fall of 2011. The timing is considered significant because that's also the time The Oprah Winfrey Show is scheduled to end.
O'Donnell may have her sights on the Queen of Daytime TV's throne, but she'll have to compete with other major daytime hits like The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dr. Phil and Judge Judy.
O'Donnell's new show will focus on a single subject with in-studio guests, according to the press release. It will be filmed in front of a live studio audience five days a week in Manhattan. O'Donnell previously hosted the Rosie O'Donnell Show from 1996-2002.
"Come fall 2011, daytime television will change in a very dramatic way," said O'Donnell. "I want to build on what Oprah began and excelled at for 25 years, in my own style and with new adaptations and ideas. I would like this show to make a difference in viewer's lives, to be real, uplifting, authentic and focus on life, love and laughter."
