‘Rescue Me’ star Denis Leary signs up for ‘Spider Man 4’
“Rescue Me’s” star and comedian, Denis Leary has joined the cast of “Spider Man 4."
Leary has signed on to play the role of George Stacy, father of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). Stone plays one of the love interests of Spider Man / Peter Parker in the movie.
In the comic of “Spider Man,” the character of George, a New York police captain, died in an accident during a battle between Spider-Man and villain Doctor Octopus. This leads Gwen to hate the hero.
As of yet the script for the “Spider Man 4” movie has not been revealed and therefore the extent of Leary’s role in the movie is unknown.
Not since 2002 has Leary starred in a live-action movie. That was “The Secret Lives of Dentists”. Since then he has played the voice of Diego, the saber toothed tiger in “Ice Age” and his acclaimed role of Tommy in the HBO drama “Rescue Me."
Also starring in “Spider Man 4” are Andrew Garfield who will play Spider Man and “Notting Hill” actor Rhys Ifans who will play the villain, The Lizard. Martin Sheen and Sally Field have also joined the cast as Peter Parker’s Uncle Ben and Aunt May.
"Spider-Man 4" is expected to be out in cinemas in July 2012.
