Reality judge worries about Susan Boyle, 'Shreck's little sister'

Bookmark and Share

Susan Boyle is under enormous pressures.
Susan Boyle

Even with all of the success singing sensation Susan Boyle has had over the course of the past year, there are still quite a few knockers around with 'questions and concerns.'

One of these supposed critics is 'So You Think You Can Dance' judge (and former 'American Idol' executive producer) Nigel Lythgoe.

Lythgoe recently made some incendiary comments to the Oxford Union that have just surfaced in the press, and they aren't exactly falttering about the 'Britain's Got Talent' runner-up:

"I don’t think she’s ready for fame. It’s quite frightening. It’ll affect all reality competitions if something happens to her or to someone else who has been made to look like a fool.”

In a cruel turn of phrase Nigel also claimed Boyle was like 'Shrek's little sister,' a comment that was probably meant as a joke but will be met with a cruel reaction regardless.

I think you should know, Antoinette, that although you are sympathetic to Susan and recognize the snarkiness of this Negel person, headlines like this one will win likely win you no friends from Susan's fans. When you print this kind of thing you are inviting the kind of cruel remarks such as belfastjames.
People like this Nigel guy are talking about this for publicty only. We should ignore people that use Susan Boyle as way of free publicity. Maybe if we ignore them they will go away...Go Susan Boyle. WHO IS NIGEL ???? whatever his name is ?
If something does happen to Susan, idiots like this can take the blame, not the reality show. How much can a person take of this kind of badgering in the press, so that idiots like this can get some press time? He is the sick one, whoever he is. I never heard of him, nor do I want to.
Antoinette Kelly, why do you even post such comments. It looks like you just want the publicity too.
Dreadful man.
I never understand these type people concern for Susan, she hasn't had any big problen since last summer. Anyone who can bounce back from their mother death, tryout for a talent show, "by the way what part of I would like to be like Elaine Paige, do people not get," she never said Madonna or MJ. Going from singing at a small pond, to being "tossed" into an ocean, and only three day in rehab. The woman should be given a little credit. Until somebody tells Li Lo to go back to school and fine a new career because she "can't handle" the fame as an adult star. People should leave Susan Boyle alone and let her adjust to stardom, which she seems to be doing just fine.
But he his right, She does look like Shrek.
Hardly anything TO say. "Sticks and stones" may break her bones, but names are never going to harm her amazing success throughout the world. For famous people, there will always be cruel rumors, cruel comments. But famous people stay famous because of talent, admiration and loyalty...in spite of cruel criticism.
Calling her "Shrek's little sister" is a mighty strange way of expressing "concern."
