The organizers of a Royal concert in Dublin for the Queen of England next month want Bono and Liam Neeson to headline the bash.

Property developer Harry Crosbie, owner of the Grand Canal Theatre and the O2 venue, has been given the green light to start planning for the Royal gig.

The Irish News of the World reports that Crosbie wants to showcase the very best in Irish talent in his posh Grand Canal Theatre when the Queen calls in May.

His aim is to close the show with a poetry reading by Hollywood heartthrob Neeson with U2, the Chieftains, Enya and Riverdance also on his wish list.

A source close to multi-millionaire Crosbie revealed: “Harry wants to use the gig to promote the great Irish talent that we have here including
traditional music and Irish dance.

“Acts like Enya, Kila and Riverdance will be approached. Irish dancers and the Chieftains are already confirmed. He wants some big names to read some poems and Liam Neeson is one of them.

“Nothing is signed yet but Harry is also desperate to get Bono and U2 there on the night. Even if U2 don’t perform Bono would really add an A-List feel to the night and could read some Yeats poetry for example.”

Crosbie is already planning the big night for the Queen according to the paper even though it has yet to be included on the official program for the first ever visit to the Republic of Ireland by an English monarch.

The source added: “Harry hopes that a concert like this can help put Ireland back on the map like Riverdance did at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993.

“He has already been given the green light to start planning the gig but an exclusive guest list will have to be pre-approved by Buckingham Palace.

“It is the kind of initiative that could really give the Irish music scene a huge boost worldwide.”
