Mullingar native Niall Horan (@NiallOfficial) has topped Ireland’s twitter list as having the most followers on the popular social networking website.

The only Irish member of the hit boy band One Direction, 18-year-old Horan has clocked up over four million Twitter followers since the band became a global success with their hit single “What makes you beautiful”.

With his Twitter followers increasing every day,  Niall has more fans on Twitter than people living in his home country, a big feat for a teenager who shot to fame after an audition for the X Facter in May 2010.

His Twitter profile reads “hey guys! im Niall from @onedirection ,im 18, and feeling lucky,
mullingar,westmeath,Ireland”. He often uses Twitter as a way of keeping in touch with his friends and fans.  Read about his top Tweets here.
