Grabbers, the new Irish comedy thriller written by Kevin Lehane and directed by Jon Wright tells the fast paced story of a small town, drink sizzled policeman (Richard Coyle) who joins forces with an incredibly straight-laced colleague (Ruth Bradley) in a battle to protect the local community from the 'tentacled, fang-jawed, barb-tongued creatures' from the deep, known as Grabbers.

The film has been selected for Sundance 2012 and producer Tracy Brimm is elated, telling RTE: 'The beautiful Donegal landscape is a featured character in Grabbers and we had an extraordinary experience shooting the film in Ireland. We had a terrific team working with us and a very warm local reception.'

'Being invited to screen the film in Sundance is an incredible honor and we could not dream of a better platform to launch the film.

'We have no doubt that this will put Ireland in the spotlight and will certainly shine a light on some great Irish talent with a big future ahead of them especially screenwriter Kevin Lehane and actress Ruth Bradley.'

The film will have its world premiere at the festival, scheduled to take place January 19 through 29 2012.

Drunks vs monsters, sounds good. A bit like an irish "Blob".
