The newly released trailer for "The Fighter" shows Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale sparing in the darkly lit and beautifully shot new movie.

Directed by David O. Russell, "The Fighter" tells the story of "Irish" Micky Ward and his Rocky-like rise to the world light welterweight title. Micky is played by Mark Walhberg who had to endure two years of training, months of getting fat and then more months of getting skinny to play this role.

Christian Bale, who plays Micky's half-brother, Dicky, even had to lose some hair for his role. Amy Adams, who plays Micky's love interest, had to tone down on the glamour for her dive-bar barmaid role.

The rumor mills are already starting to mention the Oscars. The movie will be released in movie theaters on December 10.
