Fanatical Irish fans force Miley Cyrus to record secret interview
Producers feel fans would lose the run of themselves were she to perform live
"Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus has to record an interview for Irish TV's prime time "Late Late Show" in private amid fears that the show would be hijacked by over exuberant fans were she to perform live on Friday night.
Her massive popularity has forced producers at the Irish national broadcasting station to ask her record her spot behind closed doors.
The taping will be made at RTE headquarters in Dublin on Wednesday or Thursday. The 17-year-old is expected to perform her brand new single, "Party In The USA."
RTE defended its decision to record the performance in private, and, according to an RTE spokesperson, it is something they do "only in exceptional circumstances".
The teen sensation is on tour in Ireland this week, with sold out show over the next two nights. She is so popular in the Emerald that hundreds of teen fans are expected to turn up to the concert without a ticket.
Such is the demand for tickets that cunning crooks have set up a website offering meet and greet concert packages for over $1,450 each.
The concert promoter Peter Aiken spoke to the Irish Independent about the difficulty they were having with fake tickets and ticket touts.
"A man rang me today who had spent €5,000 ($7,300) on four tickets which included a 'meet and greet' with Miley Cyrus. They didn't exist and he wanted his money back, even though I hadn't sold him the tickets."
Miley Cyrus earned over $25million last year and is currently ranked number 29 in Forbes magazines "Celebrity 100."
