A new book is making unworldly claims about the U.S. ex-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, claiming she had cheated on her husband, had a one night stand with a basketball star and has a history of drug use.

The upcoming book "The Rogue" by controversial author Joe McGinnis, due to hit shelves on Sept. 20, looks to uncover the "real Sarah Palin."

The Daily Mail reports that the book claims that Palin snorted cocaine off a 55 gallon oil drum with her husband while snowmobiling with friends as well as smoked marijuana with one of her college professors in secret.

The author says that Palin, who is now 47-years-old, had a one-night stand with Miami Heat basketball star Glen Rice less than a year before she eloped with her husband Todd. She is said to have had the whirl wind romance with the basketball star in her younger sister Molly's University of Alaska dorm room. She met the incredibly tall player in 1987 when she covered a college basketball tournament as a sports reporter for KTUU television in Alaska.

Glen Rice, who went on to have a successful career playing in the NBA and was a three-timer All-Star, has reportedly confirmed the affair in McGinniss's tell-all book.

The book also claims that while married, Palin had an affair with Brad Hanson who was one of her husband's business partners, which caused Todd Palin to end his partnership at the snowmobile dealership he ran with Hanson.

The author took every measure necessary in his attempt to reveal Sarah Palin's skeletons. Mr McGinness has followed the former vice presidential candidate for three years and in 2010 he even moved in to a home next door to the Palin residence in Wasilla, Alaska, to have a closer connection to the politician.

The sensational claims could affect the former Alaskan governor's chances of running in the presidential candidacy in 2012, although she has yet to confirm her involvement in the race. She is said to be announcing whether she will be running by the end of this month.

Joe McGinnis is a known controversial author and "The Rogue" is no exception. With these revelations and accusations, Palin must either come up with well thought out excuses or suffer the consequences of giving her possible competitor, Michelle Bachman, a boost in votes.

In a decent world this has been wouldn't even have a voice anymore.
Palin has spent years smearing everyone in her path. This is just a bit of Karma for her.
Sarah is so yesterday. Now we have Rick Perry, a gun toting Texan. The real question Are The Democrats going to dump Obama? Will the Democrats be racist if they dump Obama? Is Obama making a fool of himself going to the people?
I don't like Sarah Palin in the least, but I despise gossip and half-truths, no matter who it's aimed at.
Obama admitted to trying drugs at college. Palin the right wing christian hypocrite seems to have different rules for different people. Her son and daughter both had children out of wedlock. Her parenting skills are like her political skills, half baked.
The liberals are sinking to new lows (expected) !! I think that they fear her because of how she cleaned up the politics in Alaska (both parties). Some went to jail. A lot of politicians have done worse and still doing it.
She sniffed a fifty five gallon barrel of cocaine. Did she hoover it up through a rolled up seal pelt?
Always knew she was hot.
As an American of Irish descent I am embarassed that you would publish trash like this.I expect this from the British tabloids but are they the type of media that you wish to emulate. You must look at the motives of joe Mcginnis he went to Alaska with the intention of slandering Sarah palin, so how can you believe so quickly what he says. What is it about Sarah Palin that you dislike , is it her outspoken Christianity, her choice of life over abortion or her support of Israel. As a proud American I see these as values we as a nation should support. If you wish to trash anyone look to the anti American living temporarily in the whitehouse.
This stuff is so yesterday, who cares about this kind of behavior now;Slick Willie took care of that!
I believe that many of the Teapublicans (I hope the Irish do not get them) are hypocrites. for example bachmann rails against government spending but was at the ready to accept farm subsidies and money for foster children. All the teaparty folks gather on public land and of course they would be against spending money on that. They like clean air adn water but are ready to gt rid fo the EPA, the reason for the clean air and water. No these people are confused but becoming effective. You all probably will not want to visit the USA when we ruin the environment.
Rumor has it Sarah Palin smoked weed with Crackhead Jesus & Bonghit Buddha after going down on Glen Rice.
I am quick to believe thia about Sarah Palin. She cost Johnny-Mac the election in PA. However, Hillary has a "get out of jail free card". She has been linked through the years with plenty of girlfriends and now with Hami and she is still the "darling of the media".
In answer to the previous comment, surely all Americans, Irish-Americans among them, are interested in the truth behind all the potential candidates for the Presidency? I, for one, find this story pertinent and I'm glad to have read it. Showing up a right-wing potential candidate as being a hypocrite is important as it demonstrates her interpretation of politics, i.e.; it's ok for me to have an extra-marital affair, but I'm going to score votes by singing the virtues of being family-orientated. Slating this site as peddling "left wing diatribe", when the news story is unbiased (there is no journalist comment about the story in the piece, just the facts about the author and the content of his book), speaks more about the anonymous commentator and his/her political slant. It tells me that he/she does not want to read stories about politicians whom he/she admires that reveal the favored politicians in a poor light. Therein lies the rub. If you don't like the truth about your politicians, change your politicians. Suzanne
What does any of this have to do with Ireland or Irish Americans? Just another left wing diatribe by Irish Central. Yawn. Niall, this would be such a better site if you left your agenda at home and just report on what your readers are interested in reading. Not this garbage please.
