‘Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark’ is a rock musical whose music and lyrics were composed by Bono and his U2 bandmate, The Edge. Based on the Spider-Man comics published by Marvel, the stunt-filled musical is the most expensive Broadway show in history, costing a total of $65 million to produce. 

After the the show, at the end of which Bono “practically jumped over [Bill] Clinton to take the stage and do a few bows with The Edge,” according to the NY Daily News, Bono hosted an uber-exclusive after-party at Bowlmor Lanes Midtown.  An inside source claims that “It was the most high-security event I’ve ever been to,” complete with Bono’s security team thoroughly surveying the grounds for any possible threat. On top of that, Bono invited almost no one to part with him; as NY Daily News claims, “He wanted to be left alone because he is Bono.”

Bono’s tight guest list included only pre-approved family, friends, and various celebrities, including Cindy Crawford. Other members of the show who were not on the list were completely denied access.

Prior to the after-party at Bowlmor, Bono had hosted a party at the theatre following the completion of the show. There, he partied with a less rigid guest list, including Clinton, Jay-Z, Robert De Niro, Jimmy Fallon, and Mayor Bloomberg. However, it’s unclear whether the people at this first after party were even invited to the second.
