Bill O’Reilly’s Abraham Lincoln book banned at assassination site
Fox pundit’s book is too rife in inaccuracy’s Ford’s Theatre, in Washington DC
Ford’s Theatre, in Washington DC, the site where John Wilkes Booth shot and killed President Abraham Lincoln, is refusing to sell, Fox anchor, Bill O’Reilly’s book “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever.” They claim the book is completely wrong.
Ford’s officials and other historians have panned the book according to the Washington Post. They said the book was “sloppy with the facts and slim on documentation”. The experts said the book, which O’Reilly penned with Martin Dugard, also lacks footnotes and contains factual inaccuracies.

For example the book says that Lincoln held meetings in the Oval Office, in the White House. This room didn’t exist for another 44 years. The review by Deputy Superintendent of Ford’s Theatre, Rae Emerson, also says the portrayal of Mary Surratt, an assassination conspirator, is fantastical.
The Post review states “‘Killing Lincoln’ also resurrects an old canard debunked long ago by serious historians: that Secretary of War Edwin Stanton was involved in the plot to kill Lincoln, in the hope that he might ascend to the presidency. There is no credible evidence to support such an assertion, nor do O’Reilly and Dugard provide any.”
O’Reilly’s last book “Pinheads and Patriot” a best-seller was burnt by US soldiers but was still a best-seller. Currently “Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever” is a number two best-seller.
