"Whatever happened to Corey Haim?" was a hit from the Irish band The Thrills a few years ago.

It sort of encapsulated the weird life Corey led after he shot to stardom in "The Lost Boys," in 1987.

So sad to think he's gone.

His breakthrough role in Joel Schumacher's vampire film, "The Lost Boys," paired him up with Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland who both became more famous for being romantically linked with one Julia Roberts.

His career faltered after his teenage years and he has been off the radar for the past couple of years (apart from the 2005 song by The Thrills.)

Corey struggled with an addiction to drugs that was literally mind-blowing. Speaking in 2000, he said: "I started on the downers which were a hell of a lot better than the uppers because I was a nervous wreck. But one led to two, two led to four, four led to eight, until at the end it was about 85 a day — the doctors could not believe I was taking that much. And that was just the Valium — I’m not talking about the other pills I went through".

His best pal Corey Feldman tried several interventions with him but to no avail.
