Well, well. The latest chapter in the increasingly sad saga of Lindsay Lohan just played out this morning as it was always going to: live, via a Twitter feed.

According to her own Twitter account, Lindsay's estranged father Michael Lohan stormed her Los Angeles apartment with uniformed sheriffs this morning trying to either stage an intervention or 'rescue' her 16-year-old sister, Ali Lohan.

Of course Lindsay chronicled the whole bizarre drama live on Twitter as it was happening:

'My lawyer isn’t answering I NEED A RESTRAINING ORDER! MY SISTER AND FRIEND TOO!!!!! HE’S NUTS!!!' she tweeted.

Moments later she added: 'My BUILDING didn’t STOP him, isn’t it supposed to be safe? THAT’S WHY I MOVED HERE! it coulda been FAKE cops! dressed up. let’s not forget, that my father KIDNAPPED me from a COURT ROOM when i was 4 years old and is CRAZY.'

Michael Lohan told gossip websites TMZ and Hollyscoop that he was merely concerned about Lindsay's younger sister Ali's welfare. He was not, he insisted, acting out of spite.

'I went to the police department concerned about Ali’s welfare.' Michael Lohan told the tabloids. 'I wanted to check on Ali. I want to make sure she’s ok. She’s 16 and she doesn’t belong there! She’s a minor. I just want to make sure she’s ok.'

A spokesperson for the L.A. County Sheriff’s office confirmed to the press this morning that they found nothing to make them suspicious. 'We were there. We found no evidence of abuse,' the source said.

There's no doubt that Lindsay does need help. But maybe Michael Lohan is not the ideal person to provide it. His daughter's distressed response seems to prove it.
