Liam Neeson is getting set to play some rock 'n' roll.

Showbiz bible Variety says the Irish American actor will star in "The Virgin of Las Vegas," a movie based on the popularity of show bands in Ireland before TV sets were everywhere.

Before the day of the boob-tube,  entertainment-hungry Irishmen often watched native performers cover rock 'n' roll songs live.

Despite the plot, however, the movie won’t be set in Ireland.

Instead Neeson will play an aging show band singer who has moved to Sin City, and spends his days getting boozed-up. The plot summary says "his life is “turned on its head following the arrival of a mysterious stranger."

The movie is being produced by U2’s Bono.
