Jonathan Rhys Meyers rules again in England!

The Irish actor who plays King Henry VII in the Showtime series "The Tudors" drew more than 2.3 million loyal subjects to the British channel BBC 2 for the premier of the third series.

But the 32-year-old Rhys Meyers says the king's life wouldn't be for him.

"I can't understand why anyone would want to be king," he said.

"It's such a difficult, tiring job. It's a tiring job playing him."

The new series opened with Henry marrying his third wife Jane Seymour, played by Annabelle Wallis, 11 days after the execution of Anne Boleyn.

Friday night's viewing numbers were up almost 1 million on the Friday time slot.

But it's hard to tell who's watching for what!

Analysts say 58% of the audience is women and that 36% of the audience is aged 65 or over.
