Irish television channel RTE’s “Home Chef” will come to America following a three year deal with PBS. The show which stars Irish chef Neven Maguire will start airing internationally this November.

Maguire is excited about the deal and told the Irish Independent, “It’s great for me obviously, but it’s also good for Ireland because it lets us showcase what we have to offer here - variety, value and quality.”

In addition to “Home Chef,” which is in its fourth season, Maguire will shoot a special ‘St. Patrick’s Day’ cookery program from his family home in Blacklion, Co Cavan for NBC next week.

“Home Chef” tries to challenge the trend of simplifying cooking. in each episode a world famous chef gives Maguire a master class and shows complicated dishes and techniques. Seven different Michelin-starred restaurants have featured on the show including: Restaurant Gordon Ramsey in London, Lea Linster Restaurant in Luxembourg, Restaurant Patrick Guillbaud in Dublin, Waterford Castle, Restaurant 41, L’Ecrivain, and Chapter One.

Maguire told RTE, “I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting some of Ireland’s great chefs while making this series and picking up tips about what makes their restaurants a success.”

Maguire began experimenting with recipes at the young age of 10 after having shadowed his mother in the kitchen. He studied catering at Fermanagh College, Enniskillen where he won the Student of the Year Award. In 2001 Maguire took over the family restaurant and turned the local restaurant into one of the most frequented restaurants in Ireland. He has earned multiple awards for his cooking and his restaurant.

“Home Chef” is not the only Irish show that will be coming to American audiences. RTE also acquired the format rights to “Genealogy Roadshow.” Similar to “Antiques Roadshow,” this show is set at a different historic location each week where experts uncover family secrets of hundreds of people and investigate claims to celebrated and infamous figures from history.
