Irish actor Colin Farrel says he turned down a $5 million offer to sell his infamous sex tape.

Hollywood heartthrob Colin Farrell has revealed he turned down a massive $5 million offer to sell his infamous sex tape.

The Dublin born actor has confirmed porn bosses offered him the lucrative sum after he made the 2003 tape with former Playboy model Nicole Narain.

The 37-year-old made the admission during an interview with Irish state broadcaster RTE’s Late Late Show.

The Irish Sun reports that he filed a lawsuit in 2006 to stop the unauthorised distribution of the 14-minute video.

Farrell said “I was offered money to sell it. It was good money as well - $5 million - to sign off on it. I said absolutely not.

“It would have been in hotel rooms. Imagine my mother checking into the Holiday Inn. ‘Oohh a film of Colin’s I haven’t seen.' Or if she said, ‘He reminds me of his dad!'"

The screen star also confirmed he is now happier than ever after quitting booze and drugs for a healthier lifestyle.

And he refused to blame Hollywood for his problems, insisting they started in his teens back home in Dublin.

He added: “I was in a bit of trouble here. Before I was acting, before I was in Ballykissangel.

“As a 19-year-old I was sad. I was drinking loads and that’s not boasting because it’s not boast-worthy at all.

“I didn’t ever drink like my mates even. We’d go up to the pub Myo’s in Castleknock on a Tuesday or Wednesday and have four or five pints and everyone would go home at 11pm for work the next morning.

“But I’d go home to my parents’ house in Castleknock and I’d get whatever powder I’d have and roll a few joints and a bottle of Jack Daniel’s and get out of my mind until five in the morning.”

Farrell also revealed how he eventually decided to clean up his act after filming 2006 movie 'Miami Vice' which he could remember little of making.

He said: “I had gotten out of control. For years I could indulge in certain things, I had a high tolerance for various drugs I thought.

“I used to go a bit bananas for three months or four or five months and then I’d take my foot off for two months and clean myself up. But on Miami Vice I couldn’t.”

The Dubliner credited his son James, now ten, for the decision to go to rehab.

Farrell, who also has a four-year-old son Henry, said: “My family came out to Miami and said, ‘Listen, we think it’s time’. I felt I was dying.

“I began to think what do I want to do? A big part of that was James. It was either shoot up until I die or make a change. At least I made the right decision.”
