Colin Farrell and Ciaran Hinds at Belfast Film Festival

Dublin actor Colin Farrell and Belfast native, Ciaran Hinds will feature on the big screen in next month's Belfast Film Festival.

The event, in its 10th year, will feature "Triage" staring Colin Farrell as a war photographer in Kurdistan in the last 1980's, on opening night, April 15.

Other Irish movies to hit the Belfast screen includes the debut of Conor McPherson's IFTA-winning movie, "The Eclipse" staring Belfast born Ciaran Hinds.

The festival has a lot of international links and this year one of the pioneers of the new cinema in India, Shyam Benegal, will attend the Festival to speak about his two movies, "Zubeidaa" and "The Making of the Mahatma", both of which will be screened.

The festival, which is expected to draw about 16,000 people. Festival director Michele Devlin said: “We have such an absolute enthusiasm and love for film. “Local audiences have a great passion for it too, and every year it goes from strength to strength.”

“The thing about cinema is that it is a reasonably priced night out,” said Devlin. “For about six quid you can have a nice night out and see something new and exciting.”

“I know it will go on long after I am dead and buried!”

The Belfast Film Festival runs from April 15-30.
