Young Carey Mulligan, who stars as the daughter of Michael Douglas in the new “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” movie, said the role was daunting to play.

Mulligan told the Boston Herald that the role challenge was “in my mind 'Try to make the girlfriend in a Hollywood film relevant'. A lot of the times through no fault of the actress these parts get kind of marginalized, and I thought that there was something real there."

She said she wanted to do the movie "because it was slightly intimidating.”

She also described working with a big director like Oliver Stone “daunting.”

"I'd been so used to doing two or three auditions and waiting and waiting for the phone to ring. It was sort of weird," she said.

"You get on set and you feel that you've got to be doubly, extra good because you've got to prove that they haven't made some horrible mistake."

“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” is currently playing nationwide.
