Having already won an Emmy in 2009 for his amazing portrayal of Winston Churchill in “Into the Storm”, Brendan Gleeson is now up for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts award.

Once upon a time, Gleeson was told by a Hollywood agent that he was “too fat, too old, and not good-looking enough" to make it. How wrong he proved them.

Gleeson is nominated for Best Actor for his very convincing portrayal of Winston Churchill. He said he was “chuffed” (very pleased) about the nomination.

He also said that in the beginning when he was offered the role he was a bit apprehensive but that what Churchill had achieved in World War II was “undeniably heroic”.
