Are you having a video-call relationship with your family in Ireland? RTÉ documentary wants to hear from you.RTE

Are you an Irish person living away from home and regularly have video phone-calls with loved ones back home? RTÉ want to tell your story in their new documentary Missing You.

As Ireland commemorates the 1916 Easter Rising, taking stock of the Irish identity and the connection we feel to our homeland RTÉ One have commissioned a number of programs to reflect the mood of the nation and one of these is the documentary Missing You.

The new documentary series is looking for enthusiastic contributors with a story to tell. The show will be comprised of video phone-calls from Irish emigrants to their loved ones at home. Thanks to modern technology, families and friends can still maintain close ties and intimate relationships in spite of great distances between them.

But how does it feel to share big events and life-changing moments over a video link, rather than face-to-face?

Here’s a sizzle reel of what to expect from the show:

Irishness has spread to the four corners of the world. We all know someone; a brother, a sister, son, daughter, husband or wife, dear friend, who has left to pursue a life far from home. In spite of miles, or even continents between them, families and friends still make time to gossip over a cup of tea, share commentary on football matches (even if it is 4am for one of them), read a bedtime story to a child far away, or show off their ever-growing baby bump.

This RTÉ production crew are looking for people, young and old, who have left these shores, recently or not so recently - for love, for life, to follow a dream. They want to follow people embarking on new chapters, or bringing old ones to a close. Those who are getting married, becoming a parent, coming out, or just becoming the person they’ve always wanted to be.

They all have two things in common: an interesting story to tell and they are geographically separated from those who they would normally turn to for help, guidance, praise or a much needed kick up the arse.

Missing You is looking for honest, genuine people who are willing to share a slice of their lives with the public. If this sounds like you or someone you know and love please contact us at [email protected]
