Irish Network Boston, Science Foundation Ireland, and the Consulate General of Ireland hosted a networking event and panel discussion, highlighting the achievements and vibrant scene among Irish and Irish-Americans in technology, science, engineering, and medicine. The evening featured a lively discussion, open to questions from the audience and networking opportunities throughout.

Speakers included Consul General of Ireland Breandán Ó Caollaí, Dr Ruth Freeman, Director - Strategy and Communications for Science Foundation of Ireland and a panel discussion led by Roy Clune, with Kate Fitzgerald, Gillian McColgan, and David Quinn.

Kate Fitzgerald is Professor of Medicine and Co-Director of the Program in Innate Immunity at the University of Massachusetts. Prof. Fitzgerald received her B.Sc. in 1995 from University College Cork, Ireland, and her Ph.D. in 1999 from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. From 1999 to 2001, she was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin in the Laboratory of Professor Luke O'Neill.

Gillian McColgan is the CTO of Rockstar, a patent licensing business that owns and manages a portfolio of more than 4,000 patents developed by technology pioneer Nortel Networks. Gillian has a B.Eng. (Hons) from the University of Ulster from which she also holds Post Graduate degrees in Engineering. Prior to joining Rockstar, Gillian was the CTO, IP Business at Nortel Networks.

David Quinn is the co-founder of coUrbanize a startup focused on building better cities through better communication with residents. A Dublin native, David is a graduate of University College Dublin (UCD) and a 2012 graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), from which he holds a PhD in Building Technology.
