Join in the festivities of Yeats 2015 at the New York Irish Arts Center this Sunday for “Yeats’ Heart’s Desire”, an afternoon in celebration for one of Ireland’s most acclaimed poets.

Explore the incredible life of W.B.Yeats in the year of the 150th anniversary of his birth, as a stunning host of performers, musicians, scholars, and journalists honor the poet, playwright, scholar, statesman, and Nobel Prize winner.

The program will include a portrayal of Yeats by actor Neil Bradley and an interview on Yeats’ lasting literary influence between Adam Farley, deputy editor of Irish America magazine, and James Pethica Ph.D., senior lecturer of Irish Studies and Modern Drama, Williams College.

Further musical guests include flutist Kevin Crawford of Lúnasa, highly admired Sligo-style fiddler, Tony DeMarco, and vocalist Alisa Rose, who will interpret Yeats with an original song composed just for the event.

Yeats’ Hearts Desire will also introduce Cultural Roadmapp: Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, the GPS-enabled phone tour guide to accompany you through the delights of the Wild Atlantic Way. Developed by Distant Melodies Group, Cultural Roadmapp offers the first 100% hands free driver-friendly travel app, containing four audio tours that automatically play stories about local folklore, music, literature, and history when the phone’s GPS is triggered to points of interest on the journey, leaving the driver and their passengers free to take in the scenery and enjoy the views.

An example of the content available can be seen in this video featuring The Chieftain’s Matt Molloy.

Yeats’ Heart’s Desire will take place in the Irish Arts Center, New York, this Sunday, April 12, between 1 and 4.30. Tickets are $35 including a buffet lunch and cocktails. Raffle tickets will also be sold to benefit Concern Worldwide. Proceeds of the event will go toward the further development of Cultural Roadmapp.
