Cara O'Brien

Managing Director
FD

When asked what her Irish heritage means to her, Cara O'Brien responds, "What I like best about being Irish is the special unspoken bond that the Irish keep."

"No matter where they live or how long ago their ancestors left Ireland, there is a connection between both friends and strangers. This means that you're always part of an extended family that shares a common history (and future) built on tenacity, passion and love of life."

O'Brien, who is fourth generation Irish American, is managing director of the capital markets practice at FD, a leading global business communications firm dedicated to implementing integrated communications programs for some of the world's most reputable companies and most recognized brands.

Since joining FD in 2000, O'Brien has developed and directed strategic communications programs for clients on a wide variety of investor relations issues and special situations, including mergers and acquisitions, crisis communications, corporate reputation management, proxy fights, equity and debt offerings and bankruptcy.

O'Brien has particular expertise in the retail/consumer industry and has acted as an ongoing communications advisor for high profile companies including Steven Madden Ltd., the Esteé Lauder Companies, OshKosh B'Gosh, Nestlé, Elizabeth Arden and Duane Reade.

Over the last several years, O'Brien has won multiple industry awards for her work in the areas of financial communications and corporate reputation management.

O'Brien was raised in Weehawken, New Jersey. She holds a master's in international affairs/international business from George Washington University, and graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor's in international relations.
