Cork native, best-known for "The Secret Book of Kells" and "The Breadwinner" to direct Netflix original animation "My Father's Dragon" based on the children’s novels by Ruth Stiles Gannett.

Among the recently announced new slate is a family feature to be directed by Cork woman Nora Twomey and co-produced by Paul Young of Kilkenny based studio, Cartoon Saloon.

A Netflix Original, "My Father’s Dragon" is a 2D animated family film, with an impressive pedigree. It’s written by Meg LeFauvre (The Good Dinosaur, Inside Out) and is based on the children’s novels by Ruth Stiles Gannett.

"My Father’s Dragon" tells the story of Elemer Elevator, a young run-away Elmer Elevator, who is searching for a captive dragon on Wild Island and encounters more than he expected.

Nora is best known for the Oscar-nominated films, 2009’s "The Secret of Kells" and 2017’s "The Breadwinner" which was executive produced by Angelina Jolie.

Commenting on the news of this latest project she tweeted:

Netflix upcoming animation slate includes other big hitters. A stop-motion Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro and Over the Moon, an animated fantasy from The Little Mermaid director Glen Keane, are also on the way.
