Ireland’s own Aer Lingus has ranked 36th among the world’s best airlines by Skytrax, known for rating international airlines based on overall passenger satisfaction with service.

The four-star airline ranked ahead of fellow Irish airline, Ryanair, which came in 64th place out of the top 100 list.

Among the top few airlines in the world, Singapore Airlines came in at the number one spot, directly followed by Qatar Airways, ANA, Emirates, and EVA Air in the top 5.

The survey primarily focused on three criteria that passengers considered: cabin service, onboard product and food service, as well as ground and airport staff.

Both its short haul and long haul services came in with four stars, as well as the economy and business class services.

In response to their four-star ranking, Aer Lingus stated on their website: “The needs of our guests are central to everything we do and this achievement not only confirms that our service enhancements are responding to those needs, it also confirms our status as a global leader within the air travel industry.

“We made a significant investment over the last 24 months in terms of enhancements to our great experience, including rigorous training programs for our staff and fleet modernization, in order to be able to upgrade our service from three to four star.”

Lastly, they stated: “We will fight on a daily basis; to maintain that rating; to continue to deliver punctuality better than our competition and to retain a listening ear to our guests.”
