Visiting in 2006 we found Mayo to be beautiful, mysterious and wonderful. What great people! I looked upon the mountains my ancestors gazed upon before they left for America.

My wife's Kilroy and possibly Rogers ancestors came from the rural area of Islandeady, not far from Castlebar, to Boston and then to Milton, Massachusetts before settling in Rye City, New York. I was in Castlebar with my son in April 2006, but that was before we knew we had come so close to the Kilroy/Rogers homelands.
