Our favourite is Donegal. Summer or winter. Christmas there is warm people and Midnight Mass and a turf fire until the wee small hours.

Two yrs ago, My husband and I spent Christmas with friends in Co Kerry. It was wonderful. Just sitting around the peat fireplace, a good glass of wine.Great Friends and food. We even had snow in Ballybunion. We love Ireland . /we came very close to buying in Kerry.

Ballydavid, County Kerry is a beautiful village but I think when writing about the Wren the reporter meant to write about Dingle, Kerry (about 15 minute drive from Ballydavid). Dingle on St. Stephen's day is an experience not to be missed!!
New Year's Eve in Dingle is also the best! Fireworks and the Green and Gold....

You are so right about The Merrion and Dromoland Castle! Then there's Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Sheen Falls Lodge and Park Hotel Kenmare in Kenmare, Longueville House in Co. Cork, Harvey's Point in Donegal! Light the fires, pour a brandy, we'll be there!
