A matchmaking festival with a difference, the first “Meet on the Reek” singles event is taking place on the 23 of September in County Mayo.
Bringing singles from all over Ireland together for one weekend, the festival will centre around climbing Croagh Patrick (aka The Reek) in Westport County Mayo.
Historically climbing the mountain is an annual Catholic pilgrimage, which attracts thousands of visitors each year. The tough climb (2510 ft (765 m)) offers breath taking views of Clew Bay from the summit.
After the singles climb the Croagh Patrick on Saturday, the King and Queen of Meet at the Reek will be crowned that night.

“Climbing Croagh Patrick, our anchor event, is a wonderful experience. Add in a mini treasure hunt coupled with additional integrative activities and you are certain to have a fantastic weekend and maybe meet your perfect playmate!”

I think its great! For both the romantic and roughty-toughty types. @George, there's still plenty of crossroads for the traditionalists.

What a disrespectful and stupid idea!! With any luck St. Patrick will pee down on the whole lot of them and send them home soaking, frozen and single!

Why do they have to pick a mountain that has been venerated for millennia to hold their stupid dating outing? On the morning after, will people who respect Croagh Patrick have to go around picking up the liquor bottles and used condoms and washing off the vomit? Don't believe me? Check out any Irish beach or town center on a Monday morning.

Will Sinead O'Connor be there? If only I knew about this event sooner. I would like to meet a nice Irishman.

There are men in Ireland no doubt who would scale Mount Everest for the opportunity to be with a woman.
