In Boston: It's got to be The Behan in JP. In NYC: Trust in Rocky Sullivan's; although it was a little closer to heaven (and hell) before it moved from Lex in Manhattan across the river to Red Hook in Brooklyn.

Umm...Coleman's in Syracuse. Owned by Peter Coleman who is the brother of the Dan Coleman that owns the Dubliner in D.C. If your from Syracuse, the Dubliner is merely "Coleman's South". A glaring omission considering you have any place from TX.

Good choices, all. But the best Irish pub in America is in little old Lancaster, PA. Annie Bailey's Irish Pub your place. Owned by John and Siobhan Keane, she from Mayo, he from Waterford; the best spot there is.

I think Mayor Mike has some nerve saying anything about the Irish being fond of booze on St. Patrick's Day. The nerve of him. Where could he get such an idea from. Certainly not from the local Irish media. Oops read the headlines today and as Gilda Ratner used to say.......Never mind.
hooligan6a | Feb 16, 2011, 09:33 AM EST
I used to go to MCGovern's in Newark NJ, it was an authentic Irish bar, long before(back in the 50's) they started to build the phony theme bars. Eddie Rabbit's father played Fiddle there. McQueenies was pritty good too.

There are 364 days a year when I will enthusiastically visit an Irish bar in NYC. On March 17 I avoid the mobs, noise and jacked-up prices.
