The only known audio recording of James Joyce reading from Ulysses is to be auctioned at Sotheby’s in New York in June.

Dubin designer Rachel Kerr has come up with a unique way to celebrate this year’s Bloomsday which takes place on Sunday 16 June.

Celebrating Bloomsday in New York City, Symphony Space and Irish Arts Center will present music and performance at Symphony Space on Saturday.

Strict restrictions on James Joyce's Ulysses by Joyce's Paris-based grandson Stephen Joyce are finally being lifted.

Over 100 Broadway stars and avid Joyceans will gather at Symphony Space, on Broadway, to read portions of the modernist masterpiece, James Joyce’s “Ulysses” which celebrates life, love, literature, language and lust.

June 16 is Bloomsday, the international day which celebrates James Joyce’s book “Ulysses”. This year it will be marked by a project called “Ulysses Meets Twitter 2011”.

When I was young, my father’s oft repeated favorite riddle was: What is the richest country in the world? The first time he quizzed me, I wracked my brain and offered a few feeble guesses. When he could contain his mirth no longer, with a grin, a twinkle, and a nudge to my ribs he chuckled: “Ireland, of course! Because its capital is always doublin’!!”

It's over twenty years since eccentric British pop genius Kate Bush wrote The Sensual World a song (and album) inspired by James Joyce’s masterpiece Ulysses.

As it did 80 years ago, James Joyces “Ulysses” has being causing a commotion due to its obscene nature. This time round however it is a graphic novel version of the story by Throwaway Horse, called “Ulysses Seen”, that had been censored.

During a first-season episode of the excellent AMC TV series Mad Men, set in the New York advertising world of the 1960s, several secretaries are seen gathered around the office water cooler, whispering.

A first edition of Ulysses by James Joyce and a half sheet of the original 1916 Irish Proclamation are back on the market after failing to sell in London's Sothebys on Tuesday.
