After intense dramas like Hotel Rwanda and In the Name of the Father, it’s a welcome surprise to see Irish director Terry George helming the lighthearted and thoroughly entertaining new comedy Whole Lotta Sole.

Irish Film New York (IFNY) played host to Irish President Michael D Higgins at a screening of the Oscar-winning movie, “The Shore” at the Lincoln Center.

On Sunday Irish filmmaker Terry George won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short for his film The Shore. George first became famous for two unforgettable films about the Troubles, but his film about reconciliation and peace making in the North won gold.
