Trawling around the Internet on various sites like Pinterest and engaging with our readers over the last year we’ve come across some interesting recipes for St. Patrick’s Day. Some of them are ever classic and unchangeable like the full Irish breakfast but some like the Dubliner Shepherd’s Pie recipe give a new twist to a much loved comfort food from home.

There’s nothing like a slab of Shepherd's pie on a cold day. Shepherd’s pie is the perfect simple dinner that’s sure to put a smile on the face of any Irish person in your life.

Ingredients

This is definitely a tasty and very do-able dish that would be a perfect fit for our national holiday. My dad is a lamb farmer and delighted when I produced this recipe for NBC Today Show visitors to the Cookery School, as they pronounced that Wicklow lamb was the best they’d ever tasted.

If you are looking for something special for a dessert on the day this is a definite winner and will wow your guests.  It's my take on the traditional sticky toffee pudding recipe, adding a truly Irish dimension with the addition of the Guinness. We make this in our cookery school to great applause, though we find that the measurements of Guinness can be a bit heavy handed!
