George Zimmerman, 28, charged with the murder of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, will seek to have second-degree murder charges dismissed under Florida's 'stand your ground' law, his attorney said on Thursday.

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watchman accused of murdering unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, told Fox News' Sean Hannity this week that he would not have changed the circumstances leading up to the shooting and that he viewed the entire incident as 'God's plan.'

Defense lawyer for George Zimmerman, Irish American Mark O’Mara has reported a death threat to the Orlando police.

It has emerged that George Zimmerman had a previous run in with the law, prior to the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Accused spoke out about police behavior and how the beating of a homeless black man by the white son of an officer was covered up.

Mark O’Mara, the Irish American defense lawyer to George Zimmerman, has launched a new website for his client. He has also called for a delay in the release of documents in the case, voicing his concern over the protection of the witnesses in the case.
 
Under Florida rule, documents requested in a criminal case become public record 15 days after they have been requested. O’Mara has delayed this request until he can file motions to prevent the release of witnesses’ names, according to Fox report.
 
 Meanwhile, the defense’s website gzlegalcase.com will build Zimmerman’s online presence running up to his trial for the second degree murder of 17-year-old high school kid Trayvon Martin, as well as seeking donations to help him fund his defense.
 
O’Mara has also sent up Facebook and Twitter accounts for the defense.
 
On Friday, O’Mara told a Florida judge that prior to the case Zimmerman had set up his own website and raised over $200,000 in donations. This has since been shut down.
 
A post by O’Mara on the new site states, “[W]e contend that social media in this day and age cannot be ignored. It is now a critical part of presidential politics, it has been part of revolutions in the Middle East, and it is going to be an unavoidable part of high-profile legal cases, just as traditional media has been and continues to be. We feel it would be irresponsible to ignore the robust online conversation, and we feel equally as strong about establishing a professional, responsible, and ethical approach to new media.”
