Ireland’s leader Enda Kenny has said Irish people have gained a new sense of values as a result of the country’s recession.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney met with Ireland’s Prime Minister Enda Kenny at the Irish Embassy in London on Friday.

Irish leader Enda Kenny has point blank refused to say whether he supports gay marriage or not, despite a majority of his cabinet expressing their support. He stated it was a matter for the upcoming constitutional convention to decide how to proceed.

Plans for a year of events to celebrate the historic visit of President John F Kennedy to his hometown of New Ross, County Wexford were unveiled today (Tuesday, 3rd July 2012) at Government buildings by An Taoiseach Mr. Enda Kenny, T.D.
 
John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States of America, received a rapturous welcome on an emotional visit to his ancestral homeland. Thousands of well wishers cheered and waved flags on his arrival at New Ross town from where Patrick Kennedy, his great-grandfather, had set sail for a better life in America back in 1848 during the potato famine. A choir of 300 boys greeted him, singing "The Boys of Wexford", a ballad about the 1798 rebellion. The president left his bodyguards to join them in the second chorus. Once the singing was over, Mr. Kennedy shook hands with as many schoolchildren as he could reach.
 
In his speech at the quayside in New Ross he said: "When my great-grandfather left here to become a cooper in East Boston he carried nothing with him except two things - a strong religious faith and a strong desire for liberty. I am glad to say that all of his grandchildren have valued that inheritance."
 
From New Ross, the President travelled the four mile journey south to his ancestral homestead in Dunganstown for a joyous reunion with his cousins. The President then travelled on to Wexford Town where he laid a wreath at the statue of Wexfordman Commodore John Barry “Father of the American Navy”. Assistant to President Kennedy, Dave Powers, recalled the four days in Ireland as the happiest of the President’s life.
 
Unveiling the 2013 JFK 50 Programme of Events, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny said, "President John F Kennedy's visit to his ancestral home in 1963 was a watershed event in recent Irish history.  It remains one of the most significant visits by a Head of State to Ireland and has had a lasting effect which resonated in the visit of President Obama and is recalled every year on our St Patrick's Day visits to the States. 

Irish prime minister Enda Kenny, who launched a €100m expansion of Irish Distillers Midleton plant in Cork on Friday, has declared that Ireland will reclaim dominance in world whiskey markets.

An Irish priest who openly supported Irish Prime minister Enda Kenny’s critique of the Vatican over the sex abuse scandal in Ireland is related to a strategist in Kenny’s party, according to the Sunday Independent.
 
Fr. Tony Flannery, who is a brother of Fine Gael strategist Frank Flannery, was a big supporter of Kenny’s negative view of the Vatican’s handling of the sex abuse scandals that rocked Ireland.
 
"I was happy with the Taoiseach's statement . . . Many of us priests are frustrated with the way the Vatican conducts its business," said Flannery of Kenny’s message to Rome.
 
The priest was silenced by the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, and he was forbidden from talking to the press, from writing in Redemptorist Order’s Reality magazine and from contributing to the Association of Irish Priests' website.
 
The head of the Redemptorist Order, Fr. Adrian Egan, told the Sunday Independent that the media ban on Flannery was due to a number of things.
 
"It's about his involvement in the Association of Irish Priests, the things he might have preached about, that many of us have preached about -- maybe the connection through his brother to Enda Kenny. I imagine that Tony had no part in that (speech)," Fr Egan said, according to the Independent.
 
Fr. Flannery is known for his liberal opinions.  He is opposed to the Church’s ban on artificial birth control and supports the ordination of women.

Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny is looking to China to kick-start his country’s economic recovery.

Ireland’s Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day officially with United States President Barack Obama today. The Irish leader attended breakfast with Vice President Joe Biden, followed by a bilateral meeting with the President in the Oval Office,  as well as a lunch hosted by the Speaker of the House of Representative John Boehner.

The Taoiseach is in New York as part of his United States visit to mark St Patrick’s Day. On Monday the Taoiseach met with Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, before giving his address and ringing the opening bell.
