180 years after his apparent murder, one of Duffy’s Cut victims, John Ruddy’s, remains are to be moved from the suburban Philadelphia all the way to his home county of Donegal in Ireland to be laid to rest.

John Ruddy, one of the 57 Irish laborers who died during the cholera outbreak in 1832, will be returned to Donegal to be buried in his homeland.

West Laurel Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania yesterday became the meeting and resting place for two very different groups of Irish.

The seventh skull to be excavated from Duffy’ Cut has no name, but it may soon have a face thanks to the offer of a local artist – Kristine Sullivan Strawser – to attempt a facial reconstruction.

Archaeological researchers excavating Duffy’s Cut, the infamous dig-site where Irish railroad workers were found buried en-mass, have uncovered two more skulls which show evidence of blunt force injuries to the skull.

Archaeologists investigating the burial site of 57 Irish workers by a railroad outside Philadelphia say they are close to making several more shock discoveries in the gruesome case. They may prove that all 57 men were murdered rather than victims of cholera.
