Remember Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Irish star of 'The Tudors' on Showtime a few years ago, and the CBS miniseries about Elvis Presley for which he won a Golden Globe Award?  (He’s also unfortunately known for drunken airport incidents, but we digress).

Irish actress Katie McGrath has been cast as Lucy Westenra on an upcoming NBC series Dracula.

1. Dracula

Dracula creator, Bram Stoker, was born and grew up in Dublin, and Stoker's Irish influences such as folklore, Irish politics and the Irish landscape have played a big role on the formation of the enduring legacy to popular culture on the vampire myths.
 
On Sunday, October 28, the Irish Arts Center will celebrate the life, work, and legacy of Irish horror novelist Bram Stoker and his gothic novel “Dracula” with the screening of “Bram Stoker agus Dracula” at our Halloween Film Festival.
 
The Halloween Film Festival features screenings of “Na Cloigne”, a horror thriller and will also include trivia, costume competitions, and fun Halloween activities with a killer dance party to end the evening.
 
All films are in the Irish language with English subtitles.

Irish author Bram Stoker and his classic novel ‘Dracula’ will be in the spotlight later this month in Dublin’s ‘My Name is Dracula’ festival that will run from Friday October 26 to Sunday October 28.

The British actor - who is best known for roles in 'The Tudors', TV film 'Elvis' and Woody Allen movie 'Match Point' - will star in the new series 'Dracula', which is based on Bram Stoker's iconic Gothic horror novel.

A vampire slaying kit from the 1890s could fetch over $3000 at an auction in the UK. Auctioneers for the anti-vampire kit make the connection of its time period to that of Irish author Bram Stoker’s famous novel ‘Dracula’.

The centenary of Dublin writer Bram Stoker’s death was celebrated with the handing over a new portrait, by Aidan Hickey, to the Irish Writer’s Center, in Parnell Square.

Russell Crowe, star of such hits as ‘Gladiator’ and ‘A Beautiful Mind,’ is being considered for a new Dracula film reboot entitled ‘Harker.’ In it, Crowe is projected to play Jonathan Harker, a Scotland Yard investigator who is on Dracula’s murder cases.

Film production company Hammer is looking to create a revival of the popular ‘Dracula’ films for the upcoming anniversary of Irish born author’s Bram Stoker’s death. Between 1958 and 1977, Hammer had produced nine ‘Dracula’ feature films.

The private journal of Bram Stoker, Irish author of the classic ‘Dracula,’ was discovered in his great-grandson Noel Dobbs’ bookshelf in England. The journal contains 305 of Stoker’s own entries, varying in length.

Perhaps feeling that the worldwide fascination with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the "Twilight" movie series has focused attention on the wrong vampires, a relative of the creator of the grand-daddy Gothic novel "Dracula" wants to have a memorial erected in Dublin in time for the 100th anniversary of Bram Stoker's death this year.
