College football powerhouse and scandal ridden Penn State is looking to play a football game in Ireland according to Coach Bill O’Brien, following up on the hugely successful Notre Dame/Navy game there last year.

Reports are circulating that the Fighting Irish’s defensive coordinator Bob Diaco could be interviewing for a position at the Boston College, with the Eagles. According to EagleAction.com’s Mark Blaudschun, Diaco was down to interview this Monday.

The presidential oversight committee met in Washington on Tuesday to BCS commissioners' plan for a four-team playoff system which will begin in 2014 and run for an estimated 10 years.

Aer Lingus helped save the day for a group of American college football players who had lost out on trip arrangements after their travel agent, Offsite Productions, filed for bankruptcy. The New England Ironmen, who lost out on $50,000 worth of travel arrangements, were able to fly to Dublin this week after Aer Lingus donated seats, and other locals donated money.

Notre Dame has the second most lucrative college football team Forbes magazine has reported.

Notre Dame travels to Ann Arbor this Saturday to face the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor at Michigan Stadium. The matchup will be broadcast at 8 PM on ESPN and ESPN 3.

According to the latest ESPN College Football Program Recruiting Rankings Notre Dame is ninth in the nation.  The Irish are up two spots from the last rankings in June.

My fourth grade teacher once told me the only way to reach goals is by setting them.

I semi-recovered from a 3-4 performance two weeks ago. I ended up going 4-3 against the spread, which raises my season total to 43-26 (60.4 percent). With every week, there was the birdie; almost predicting the Clemson-FSU game on the dot, and the (double) bogey; thinking for some unknown reason that the Irish were going to beat Navy by two Tds. 

I had to cool off at some point. Does A-Rod hit a home run every time he’s up? 

It’s getting annoying, I know. But I just can’t help the hotness. 

Batman has Robin. Penn has Teller. And every master chef has a sous chef. The same goes for quarterbacks when it comes to their receivers. And this season in college football, there’s no shortage of game-changing duos. There have been more A-list hookups than on the homepage of TMZ.com.

I’m riding my annual mid-season hot streak.  Last week, I went 5-2 against the spread, which brings my season record to 30-18 (11-3 the last two weeks). There was the birdie; predicting Cincy to escape South Florida with a win, and the bogey; thinking Virginia Tech was going to stomp Georgia Tech.

That’s more like it! I got right back on track with a dandy of a week, going 6-1 against the spread, which brings my season total to 26-16. There was the birdie; picking Michigan to keep it real close against Iowa, and the bogey; picking Ohio State to win by two touchdowns (they were giving 15). Let’s keep this baby rolling. 

I’m not going to lie; I’m relieved the Fighting Irish have a bye this week. I don’t think Notre Dame fans can hold their breath for that much longer. We’ll leave that kind of magic to David Blaine.
