The Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers is expanding and will be doubling its current space. The center will also introduce new programs for the benefit of the entire community.  

The Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers is excited to re-launch the Bachelor of The Year 2013 Fundraiser, taking place on February 16, 2013 at Gaelic Park in the Bronx. In previous years this event has been one of the most successful and entertaining nights for the Irish community in New York and the Aisling Center hope to revive the event and strengthen the Irish connections across all boroughs.

The Aisling Center, McLean avenue, Yonkers continues to cater to the needs of the Irish community all year round.

Former heavyweight boxer, “Gentleman” Gerry Cooney will be playing this year’s annual golf outing in aid of the Aisling Irish Community Center in Yonkers which is organized every year by local bar JP Clarke’s. The outing will take place on Monday October 1, 2012 in Lake Isle Golf Club, Eastchester.

Background: Born in Rockfield, Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Doherty immigrated to London when he was 19 before he joined his sisters in New York in 1961. He is being honored at the Aisling Irish Center’s dinner dance next month, and is the owner of Precision Windows in Yonkers.

Occupation: Program and events coordinator at the Aisling Irish Community Center. Originally from Skibbereen, Co. Cork, she lives in Woodlawn.
