John Duddy (29-1, 18 kos) and Julio Cesar Chavez JR. (41-0-1, 30 kos) came face to face in Los Angeles on Tuesday to promote their highly anticipated fight in San Antonio on June 26.
The two middleweights will top the Latin Fury 15: La Furia De Mexico card, and Chavez Jr. will have none other than Freddie Roach in his corner.
Chavez Jr. decided to work with Roach after visiting the Wild Card gym a few months ago and experiencing the intensity that Roach and Manny Pacquaio worked at.
"Junior has ability, and he has a lot to learn," said Roach, who also trains Dublin pair Dean Byrne (11-0, light welterweight) and newly turned professional Jamie Kavanagh.
"I will see what we have when he gets into the ring at Wild Card Boxing Club. We are taking on a tough one in Duddy."
Duddy was keeping his focus on the man in the other corner, as opposed to the trainer that will guide him.
"On June 26, it will be me and Chavez Jr inside the ring," said the Derry man. "Just the two of us. Freddie Roach will be outside of the ropes."
The Duddy -Chavez fight in a contest scheduled for twelve rounds with the Silver WBC middleweight title at stake.
