The 2010-11 Rugby season has come to an end for all four Irish provinces. The season ending finale in the Magners League may have fallen in Munster's favor but there is no doubting who is the happiest with their achievements.
Leinster's heineken cup final win over Northampton will live long in the memories of most who watched it. It was an unbelievable affair that exemplified the tale of two halves.
For most people the memory that will remain will have occurred within the lines of the field. A Jonathan Sexton try, a Brian O'Driscoll tackle or a Sean O'Brien line break.
Munster's 19-9 victory over Leinster at Thomond Park yesterday may not have felt like a good thing to a chunk of Irish supporters, but it was a great thing for Irish fans ahead of this year's Rugby world cup.
Despite relying on two foreigners to open the scoring as Liefemi Mafi sent Doug Howlett over the line for the home side's first try. Munster got strong performances from youngsters looking to break their way into the Irish setup.
Felix Jones has justified his selection ahead of the veteran Paul Warwick whenever he stepped over the white line this season and yesterday was no different. Jones dynamic running and strong defense could put him in contention as a role player in New Zealand. He would provide the squad with a different type of player to Rob Kearney who is expected to return to the team ahead of the Rugby world's biggest competition.

The Boston Celtics early exit from the NBA playoffs at the hands of the Miami Heat exposed them as the elder statesmen that they are. Unfortunately it was for the wrong reasons.
The Celtics were outrun and outmuscled as the more athletic and younger team ran riot. The Heat won the series in only five games and while most games were close and the injury to Rajon Rondo may have cost them a chance at making a comeback, the signs were still there for a team that was well past its prime.
As expected both Richardt Strauss and Brian O'Driscoll have been passed fit to start the Heineken Cup final tomorrow.
The news that Brian O'Driscoll is to take a full part in training on Friday will come as a massive boost to Leinster boss Joe Schmidt.
O'Driscoll suffered a knee injury in the team's last Magner's league outing, a semi final victory over Ulster that sets up a meeting with rivals Munster in the final.
Leinster coach Joe Schmidt said, "We're pretty confident that by tomorrow (Friday) he will be able to stretch out and be able to fully accelerate."
The Republic of Ireland have agreed to take on Italy in a friendly in Belgium next month.
Confirmation of the June 7 fixture came from the Football Association of Ireland today.
Republic coach Giovanni Trapattoni will be taking on his native country, having coached the Italian soccer team from 2000 to 2004.
There was no doubting who was the better team after this series. The Heat may rely heavily on just two players, and sometimes a third in Chris Bosh, but they had no trouble against the Celtics last night.
The Boston Celtics lost out in Miami by 97-87 which was the final nail in the coffin for their season. The Heat will now advance to the Conference Finals after winning the series by 4-1.
The Celtics were obviously incapable of keeping up with the younger and more athletic Heat stars which could spell the end for the original big three.

The Boston Celtics can thank Lebron James for their loss last night in TD Garden. James scored 35 points and had 14 rebounds in the crucial game four.
The Heat now need to win just one more game if they are to eliminate the Celtics with a trip home next up on the cards.
Rajon Rondo kept to his word and started for the Celtics playing 38 minutes in a game that went to double overtime. His impact in this game was minimal however as he had only 5 assists and 10 points.
An impressive performance from the Boston Celtics was led statistically by Kevin Garnett who dominated his matchup against Chris Bosh.
Garnett finished with 28 points on 13 of 20 shots. Paul Pierce wasn't far behind with 27 while Ray Allen chipped in with 15.
There was one much more significant performance in the game that won't be found on the box score however. With seven minutes left in the third quarter, Rajon Rondo dislocated his elbow after a tussle with Dwayne Wade.
Shaquille O'Neal was possibly the greatest free agent signing of all time...in 1996, for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Shaq's arrival in Boston was just as highly heralded by Boston fans but this was more because of his legacy than what he offers on the basketball court these days. O'Neal was signed to fill in for the injured Kendrick Perkins, and be part of the team's rotation at center.
He did this adequately throughout the season before being injured in February. There is no doubting however that Shaq had his best years in LA as a Laker. The team expects him to return for tonight's crucial game three matchup with the Miami Heat in Boston.
Tedy Bruschi spent a lot of time in the NFL tackling mountainous running backs and guards but he has never quite tackled something like this.
The three time Super Bowl winning linebacker formerly of the New England Patriots will be attempting to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro with former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher as well as former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Chad Lewis.
The trio will be joined by four service members on their journey.
The Boston Celtics definitely looked like the older stars in the playoff match with the Miami Heat tonight. In fact, they didn't really look like stars at all.
The Celtics got what they had hoped for during this playoff series when their bench and role players came up big against the Miami Heat. However that bench production wasn't enough as the team's stars struggled with injuries and poor performance on the court.
An early injury to Paul Pierce which obviously hampered his performance throughout the game was followed up by a minor knock to Ray Allen as well as Rajon Rondo's back struggles. Couple this with the fact that Kevin Garnett had an off shooting night and the Celtics couldn't tie up the series.
