An injury to quarterback Dayne Crist
ruined what had been a great start to the game against Michigan at South Bend.
Crist led the irish to a touchdown on the first series, but then reported he had no sight in one eye after a heavy hit.
He was forced to leave the game and backup quarterback Andrew Marr took over but threw an immediate interception.
Then Nate Montana
, son of revered legend Joe stepped up.
'However, the Irish
attack sputtered and quarterback Denard Robinsion began to control the game for Michigan
, culminating in an incredible 87 yard run to leave his side ahead by 21-7.
In the closing seconds Montana
led the Irish to the three yard line but was unable to get the ball into the end zone.
