No Bowl game for Notre Dame after Stanford blowout

Notre Dame’s loss to Stanford will define the season for the Fighting Irish.

Unless they run the table which is extremely unlikely there will be no bowl game for the Irish.

This is a very poor team. We could delude ourselves against Michigan and Michigan State that they were unlucky the past two weeks.

There was no luck involved against Stanford, except Andrew Luck the Stanford quarterback who ran the Notre Dame defense ragged with his pin point passing.

The game was probably lost in the first quarter when Notre Dame recovered a fumble on the Stanford 20 and Brian Kelly called a series of wildcat plays with Crist, pictured, parked wide as a receiver.

But Armando Allen is no Dennard Robinson and his inability to get the ball in the end zone meant the Irish lost their best chance to get a touchdown.

How the game would have turned out if they had will never be known, but it would be really tempting fate to say the Irish might have gone on to win.

They simply lack the defense and the offensive weapons to challenge a top 20 team and Stanford look like they could well be atop five side if they win their next few games.

Bill Parcels said your record is what is says you are. Notre Dame are a 1-3 team, heading to 1-5 now likely unless something dramatic changes.

This is worse than the Weis era.

Culchie, let O'Shea continue to cover sport. I like to read his articles but I categorize them under comedy not sport. His lack of knowledge in the arena of pretty much all sports is comical. His 10-2 prediction for ND has been blown out of the water after only 4 games and his knowledge of bowl eligibilty sucks too. It is possible, but unlikely ND could lose 3 more games and still make it to a bowl game but according to his article they need to run the table in order to make a bowl game. Again his lack of research before putting out an article astounds me. Keep up the great comedy Sean 'cause it certainly isn't sports journalism!
Someone must join me in a prayer group for this team for God's sake! I love them and will stay faithful, but something has to give already! Please let's band together and ask the good Lord and "Touchdown Jesus" to intervene!!!
ND is run by Holy Cross Fathers (French Order of Priests), not Jesuits. Allegedy "Irish" was the derogatory cheer used by U of Michigan fans in the early 1900's to belittle their Catholic opponent, Notre Dame. Stanford has been physically abusing opponents since Harbaugh became coach. Seems like he's using less highly recruited players who want to play football for Stanford.
Nobody has yet explained to me why Notre Dame is considered Irish. The Jesuits are certainly not Irish.!!!!!
Find another topic to write about Sean... maybe Irish cooking instead of football...you'd be more qualified.
Now onto Boston College, arguably an even more "Irish" university than ND. It was founded in 1863 specifically to educate the young men of Boston Irish families. The football team has had a few famous Irishmen since then, but the university is a grand mix of ethnic backgrounds from all over the US, and elsewhere. Also, at the top in Division I graduating their athletes. There should actually be an Academic Division consisting of BC, ND, Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, etc.
ND needs maouris or samoans.
Wow, what a change! Brian Kelly was OBVIOUSLY the only choice ND could make prior to his being hired. Urban Meyer's endorsement cemented that fact, right? Remember who was his biggest cheerleader? The same writer who just said "This is worse than the Weis era".
