Ireland avoided defeat in Paris when they tied France 17 -17 in their rugby international clash on Sunday.

The game had been rescheduled after originally being canceled because of weather conditions in Paris in February.

It was only the second time in four decades that Ireland avoided defeat away to France.

Yet, despite the good result, Ireland will rue missed chances, especially in the second half when they failed to score to capitalize on their 17-6 half time lead.

Several times down close to the French line they made basic mistakes and turned over the ball.

The game ended on a thrilling note with France attacking in extra time and a last ditch Irish tackle forcing the ball out of play.

Ireland's hero was winger Tommy Bowe, (pictured), who scored two spectacular tries the first interception, the second a great individual effort.

Also outstanding for Ireland were full back Rob Kearney and outhalf Jonathan Sexton.

Ireland have now beaten Italy, lost to Wales and tied France. They meet England on St.Patrick's Day
