Hoping that Barcelona can defeat Manchester United for the sake of the beautiful game

I'm a lifelong Manchester United fan but I hope Barcelona beats them today at Wembley in the European Cup Final.

I believe that Barcelona, with Messi et al represent the beautiful game so much better than a United team that is adequate but a long way form greatness.

Like in the world cup final with Spain I want to see the team that plays the beautiful game best win.

Ryan Giggs would have got the Brett Favre treatment in American media thanks to First Amendment

Ryan Giggs may be the talk of the town in Britain after a judge blocked all coverage of his connection to a sex affair with a model but it is impossible to see a similar event happening here.

No judge in his right mind in America would seek to prevent coverage of a sports star and an alleged affair.

Will Ryan Giggs super injunction unsettle Manchester United against Barcelona as Spanish media play it up?

The Spanish press has revealed that Ryan Giggs is the famous footballer who has taken out the super injunction forcing the British media to keep his name out of a sex scandal involving model Imogen Thomas.

But the Spanish newspapers are bound to start flooding United players with questions about the case when Barcelona meet United on May 28th, in the game of the decade, at Wembley Stadium in the European Champions League final.

United have managed to avoid any press pressure up to this point and it has served them well, their clinical dispatch of Chelsea, where Giggs played a leading role, just the latest example.

Ten hot tips on how to pick the Kentucky Derby winner

Picking the Kentucky Derby winner is like catching mercury in a spoon. there are twenty horses galloping a mile and a quarter at 40 miles per hour around Churchill Downs.

Every other race in America has a maximum of 12 starters, which makes them look like a picnic compared to the cavalry charge that the Derby has become. The race to the first bend is like roller derby with horses knocked this way and that.

However, some interesting trends appear to happen most years.

Two Irish contenders seek Kentucky Derby glory in the Run for the Roses

There are two Irish interests in this year's Kentucky Derby. Master of Hounds is trained by resident Irish genius Aidan O'Brien, pictured, in Ireland and is being shipped across the Atlantic for the race.

The other Irish interest is Santiva, trained by Waterford-born Eddie Kenneally who now works out of Kentucky. Santiva was favorite for the recent Blue Grass stakes, a key Kentucky Derby prep but ran disappointingly.

Master of Hounds is intriguing, even more so because top American jock Garret Gomez will be on board. O'Brien has shipped into the Kentucky Derby before but with little success, but may have a stronger hand this year.

New York crash 3-21- to 1-11 to far superior Roscommon side at Gaelic Park

New York went crashing out of the All Ireland football championship after Roscommon proved far superior in their first round Connacht Championship game in Gaelic Park in The Bronx.

All the ingredients seemed in place for a classic battle with a huge crowd, wonderful conditions and a New York team that many believed was the best to be fielded in years .

The final score was 3-21 to 1-11 in a game that will bitterly disappoint the New York GAA fans who believed their side had a real shot after running Galway close last year.
